Curling young

Curling is such a huge part of our life – and we have so many ‘curling stories’. This is my 9 year old son’s 5th season of curling! He qualified to participate in the provincial Hit Draw Tap Championship in 2018 and 2019. Last year he won top 4 in his age group and got the ‘golden ticket’ to advance to the Hit Draw Tap Tour Championship taking place at the Tim Hortons Brier in Kingston – our hometown! After enjoying many draws at the Brier, being on the ice as a Future Star with Team Koe and meeting some of the professional curlers, he got the chance to go on the Brier ice and throw some rocks in the competition just like the professionals do! He was so proud and excited to be a part of this amazing competition and have his family cheering him on. We were very proud when he won first place in the Hit Draw Tap competition that day at the Brier.

The entire week at the Tim Hortons Brier was an amazing experience for him – meeting many professional curlers, being interviewed by the local radio station about his love of curling, getting to be a ‘Future Star’ and taking on some volunteer jobs at the Brier as a local youth curler. Curling has been a big part of his life since he was 2 years old and he spent every Sunday at the curling club while older brother was there curling. He can’t wait to get back on the ice and trying out those new curling shoes!
